From 20th May 2018,The MOT test has changed….

This has created some confusion.
We are York’s only WHICH? accredited independent tester.
I now dispel some of the myths that can surround being charged for unnecessary work.

This is what a fail certificate looks like- there is currently no alternative.

If a fault is found during your MOT, it will be categorised as either:
Advisory (pass)
Minor (Pass) Repair as soon as possible
Major (Fail) Repair immediately
Dangerous (Fail) Do not drive until repaired

If you receive a “Dangerous” – Testing stations don’t have the power to prevent you from driving the vehicle (at your own risk). You could still take it to another garage to get it repaired.
There have been numerous reports where vehicles have been impounded until the work has been carried out by the testing station, sometimes at vastly inflated prices.

We don’t carry out repairs-
We have no incentive to fail or attempt to add on unnecessary repairs- nor do we have the powers to impound your vehicle.

We can however advise where to get any dangerous faults quickly and cost effectively rectified- we can effectively navigate you through the potential pitfalls, ensuring you only pay for the repairs that are actually required. The MOT retest is without charge (returned within ten working days)

Like & share our page to avoid the scams sometimes employed by less scrupulous underperforming testing stations, while staying informed of any future MOT planned changes.
