Current COVID-19 on MOT testing.
Due to the unfolding COVID-19 situation, cars, vans and motorcycles necessitating their MOT from 30th March 2020, will have their MOT extended by 6 months.
This will continue until I suspect the threat is over; allowing vehicle owners to get to work where this absolutely cannot be done from home or to carry out essential duties.
It is important to note however, that vehicles must be kept in a roadworthy condition. If your vehicle when stopped by the relevant authorities or having an accident, is found to be in an unroadworthy condition, you may face the threat of:
- Loss of entitlement to drive
- A fine
- Points on your licence
- Invalidation of insurance
- A combination of all the above
To ensure you know that your vehicle is in a roadworthy condition, The MOT Shop is still open for business and continue to offer bookings for the mandatory MOT test.

Any vehicle whose MOT fell due before 30th March 2020 must ensure they have a valid MOT to be insured or to be lawfully able to drive on UK public highways.
DVSA state MOT testing stations and garages provide an important role in keeping people and goods moving safely. The MOT SHOP remains open to keep you legally entitled to drive on UK roads.
We continue to take all measures possible to reduce the spread of Coronavirus.
We have closed waiting areas and ask customers to drop keys and wait outside whilst we carry out the mandatory MOT.
